The Food App
Food, Learning & Wellbeing
As part of our commitments to collaboration, innovation and scale, a mobile food app has been developed ready for testing by primary schools across the UK.
The main objectives of the food app are to identify the causal impact of food-based learning on children eating behaviours and generate useable qualitative data. Educationalists, healthcare professionals, food manufacturers, and strategic policy planners will be able to develop a meaningful understanding that drive actual change. Food -based learning is delivered at a variety of settings, as part of school curriculums, health care centres, community-based initiatives.
How does the food app work?
The app trial is scheduled for Autum Term 2024, for a period of 3 weeks. Four schools from across the UK will participate in the trial. They will nominate children from KS1 (KeyStage1) and KS2 (Key Stage 2) age groups to participate in the trial. IT support will be available for the participating children during the trial.
As part of the pupils’ homework, children with the help of parents/carers will use the food app to keep a daily diary of their food consumptions and physical activities.
